"For me, making wine is really about making art. I rely more upon my intuition and sense of taste. I guess my approach is intuitive, more than anything else."
One of the youngest winemakers in Santa Barbara County, Tessa Marie, produces and oversees a portfolio of Cal-Italian wines. The Tessa Marie Sangiovese is her flagship wine, and displays a New World sensibility. Vermentino, a new varietal to the area, was later added in 2009.
Tessa, who's first harvest was in 2005, sources most of her fruit from Camp 4 Vineyard and Rodney's Vineyard; some of the most esteemed vineyards in Santa Barbara County. "I like to make New World-style wines with bold, stand-out flavors, that still demonstrate balance."
